We Are All Zimbabweans Now, published by Umuzi, is the story of Ben Dabney, a white American history graduate student, who arrives in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1982 filled with hopes for the future of this newly independent nation. He idolizes Robert Mugabe, the first black Prime Minister of the country. The novel tells the story of Ben’s disillusionment with Zimbabwe and how his experiences of living, researching and falling in love with former freedom fighter Florence Matshaka create a new sense of hope and belief.
